Rock County has transformed several government buildings, including relocating the County Communications Center, to create an efficient space with ample daylight.
The project involved expanding and renovating the 911 Communications Center while ensuring uninterrupted IT and 911 services. The new IT Department addition was strategically placed in a green space to serve as a temporary 911 workspace during renovations. Once completed, 911 operations returned to their original updated space, while IT and servers moved into the new addition.
The data center’s central location within the building safeguards it against natural disasters, with concrete block and precast construction providing wind resistance. Office areas surround the data center to maximize daylight for staff. Construction materials were chosen to blend seamlessly with the original building, featuring complementary brick and added windows for a contemporary look.
