Health and Human Services Center

Walworth County identified the need for a new HHS facility to improve staff conditions, increase efficiency and enhance services to the citizens of Walworth County

The Walworth County Health and Human Services Building is a 76,300 sq. ft, free-standing building that replaces the existing aged building on the Walworth County Government Campus. It includes all related divisions (Public Health, Mental Health, Crisis, Child Support, Economic Support, ADRC, Children’s Services and Administration) in a more flexible and operationally-efficient building. Key design features include controlled access to staff areas, open workstation arrangement where appropriate and natural daylight to all work areas. Additionally, a 100+ person multi-function space was built to support many HHS activities.

The building was slab-on-grade due to a high water table on the site. Buried rubble from the previous health care center on the footprint was used to provide footing stability. Tall windows allow daylight to extend far inside the building, boosting morale and improving employee productivity. In addition, a walking trail was added to the site to encourage physical fitness.
